An electrical measuring instrument that measures the resistance in a circuit or component and shows its value in ohms. An ohmmeter determines the value of an unknown resistance by measuring the current flowing through it when the voltage across it is known.

An electrical receptacle whose sockets are arranged in such a way that its mating plug can be inserted in only one way. Nonpolarized receptacles for house wiring have two flat sockets of the same size, and a plug can be inserted with either pin fitting into either socket.
Polarized receptacles used in modern house wiring have three sockets. A round socket is connected to the earth ground, and the socket for the common wire (the white wire) is wider than the socket for the “hot” wire (the black wire).

An electrical relay connected in such a way that it chops up direct current and produces pulsating DC. The pulsating DC is sent through the primary winding of the magneto coil where it induces a high voltage in the secondary winding. This high voltage causes a spark to jump across the gap in a spark plug. Induction vibrators are used with magnetos to produce a hot spark for starting the engine when the magneto is turning slowly.
