Metro
A design language originally created by Microsoft for use on Windows Phone 7, and which has since been used on the Microsoft website, the Xbox 360 dashboard update as well as on Windows 8. Its key principles are similar to those of Minimalism and are the opposite to those of skeuomorphic design. That is, there is a focus on the content of applications, with a move away from the addition of superfluous graphics or effects.Instead metro relies much more on typography as a means of organising information. As well as this, there is a tendency to use fewer large icons rather than lots of small buttons.
